Thailand: the apps eat data

Thailand is where our support chat sees the most "data finished early" messages, and the reason is almost always the same: TikTok, Instagram reels and YouTube in the evenings, on a fast network that streams at high quality by default. A 3 GB plan is fine for maps, Grab and messaging; if short video is part of the holiday, buy 10 GB for the week. Singapore's networks are among the fastest visitors will see anywhere. A 3 GB plan covers a long weekend for most people; the MRT app, Grab and maps are light. The one heavy use is photo backup, which the hotel Wi-Fi should carry.

Malaysia: KL, Penang and Langkawi on one plan

What to download before you fly
