A crew month looks nothing like that — Dubai for 26 hours, then London for a night, then Bangkok, then Dubai again, with the roster changing twice. Buying a country plan for each layover means buying four or five plans a month, each with a validity window that starts on the first connection and mostly runs out unused. It also means an unplanned destination has no plan at all.

A regional or global bundle turns that into one decision a month. The eSIM stays installed, the data pool is shared across every country in the bundle, and the thirty days count from the first layover, not from the purchase.

Before the first sector: the two settings

Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi. The QR arrives on WhatsApp and email within minutes of payment; the plan does not start until it first connects abroad.

Then set two things once, so nothing needs doing at 3 a.m. in a hotel lobby:

1. Data Roaming on, for the eSIM line only. iPhone: Settings → Mobile Service → the eSIM → Data Roaming. Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Data roaming (with the eSIM selected in SIM manager).

Hotspot, streaming and the sleep window
